Ambitious Push for Green Hydrogen in India
India is positioning itself as a global leader in green hydrogen production, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized during the 2nd International Conference on Green Hydrogen. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in January 2023, aims to establish India as a hub for green hydrogen production, utilization, and export. By 2030 India plans to develop 5 million metric tons of annual green hydrogen production capacity.
The green hydrogen project in India promotes innovation, infrastructure and investment, encouraging collaboration between industries, academia, and startups. Modi highlighted green hydrogen’s potential to decarbonize sectors such as refineries, steel, and heavy-duty transportation, while also serving as a solution for renewable energy storage.
With this green hydrogen production India is making strides toward a cleaner energy future, enhancing global efforts to combat climate change.
